1st Anniversary of Teen Research Center Recognized by Expansion
Joshua Brown Foundation Announces New Name for Center

The Joshua Brown Foundation Board of Directors announces the expansion of teen safety research by introducing the National Teen Research Center, formerly identified as the Teen Safety Research Center.

Located in the A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service of Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia, the National Teen Research Center was developed for the purposes of researching and developing 21st century driver training after passage of Joshua’s Law by the Georgia General Assembly in 2005.

“The expansion of public policy and technology developed by the Joshua Brown Foundation and its partners is now recognized nationally,” says Alan Brown, Chairman of the JBF Board of Directors. “As the only known research center dedicated exclusively to the development of driver training and teen safety, the title is reflective of the growth of the Foundation.”

A second location of the National Teen Research Center has been identified in Salt Lake City, Utah. Existing driver education programs in Utah provide a broad spectrum of training classrooms that will provide unique opportunities to research and develop the most effective driver training programs. Expansion into other states is anticipated in 2007.

“In the past year, the research center has created a Technical Advisory Board with specialists in adolescent behavior, simulation technology, and driver training specialists from universities and private training programs around the world,” states Pat Wilder, Executive Director of the Joshua Brown Foundation.

The Technical Advisory Board of the National Teen Research Center has recently developed a comprehensive training program that is affordable, accessible, and measurable in reducing injury and death to teen drivers and passengers.  Based on demonstrated and proven computer-based and simulation technology, the product changes the focus from driver education to driver training—training systems now used in training military and commercial drivers.
