Dr. Jim Voorhees

Jim Voorhees is the President of Instructional Technologies, Inc., that utilizes technology, hardware, software, and user-interface design concepts in computer based training for commercial truck drivers. Voorhees led the development of the high-fidelity automobile simulators used by the Transport Accident Commission and Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, the University of Massachusetts, Federal Highway Administration, the University of Washington, and the US Navy. He received his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Texas Christian University and served for 24 years in the U.S. Army as a combat helicopter pilot and research engineer with the responsibility for the design and development of the most advanced aviation research simulation facility in the Army serving as the Chief, Crew Station Research and Development Branch, Aeroflightdynamics Directorate, and NASA Ames Research Center. He served as an international consultant in the areas of ground and airborne vehicle simulation design, requirements, implementation and applied human factors research and participated on committees of the National Science Foundation, the National Research Council and the National Academy of Sciences.
